I have a complaint concerning Red Hoagland Pontiac, 5325 14th St. W., Bradenton, Fla.
On Dec. 15, I took my 1997 Pontiac Sunfire to this dealer to have a water pump replaced after being given an estimate over the phone of $400.
I later received a phone call from the dealership -- apparently, they had found something else wrong, concering the timing cover -- so the bill went to $669.64.
Upon receiving my bill, I noticed that there was a line stating "Customer hereby acknowledges receiving original estimate of $700 (+ tax).
I never received a $700 estimate, but needed my car back, so I reluctantly signed the bill.
Two miles from the dealership, two warning lights came on: the emissions light and the "ETS OFF" light. By this time, the dealership had closed.
I called Saturday morning, they said to bring the car by on Monday.
On Monday, I took the car back, and they said the oxygen sensor had failed, denying that they were at fault (even though oxygen sensors can fail when exposed to engine coolant, which logically happened as they were removing the water pump, since the light did not go on prior to my having the car serviced.)
They refused to fix the problem that they obviously caused.
