Auto Insurance - American Horizon Auto insurance charged $40.00 fee for cancellation of insurance 'before it took effect'

Complaints.com received the following e-message on December 17, 2000:

American Horizon is a very unprofessional, unfair, business.

On November 13, 2000, I called in for an auto quote.

The fee seemed fair so I purchased the coverage using my credit card.

After speaking with them, I received 2 call backs from insurance company's with better rates.

Within 20 minutes I called American Horizons back to cancel the insurance I had paid for and requested that they credit my credit card back immediately.

I was told it would be implemented without a problem and my credit card would show the credit within 2 days if they could not catch the coverage request that day to stop it.

After a week of constantly calling because their company put the coverage request through, but not the cancellation request, I was told that it would finally be done.

When I requested to speak with Supervisors I was told they were busy and could not take calls.

When I asked for the number to the main office, no one knew the number, or the President of the company's name.

After aprox. 1 1/2 weeks had past.

My credit account was credited the amount I had paid to the company - $40.00.

When I called the company again, I was told I was charged $40.00 due to canceling my insurance "before" it went into effect... what kind of since does that make?

I am still fighting with the company to refund the full amount of money owed to me.

They will scam you out of your money!!

With a touch of a finger they will take your money, but will take you through hoops to get it back.
