Online Stores - Egghead.com unfair expensive shipping rules - beware

Complaints.com received the following e-message on November 30, 2000:

Hi folks, Thought I might try and address as many of you as possible while I am at it here.

Just wanted to give you a fair warning before I start talking in newsgroups and discussion boards and chat rooms regarding the weird and absolutely condemnable shipping rules that you guys hide behind.

I have been your customer for some time now but am discontiuing my service from now on.

Reason...your shipping rules and regulations that actually make me end up paying equivalent to or sometimes higher than what I would have to pay for a comparable product from a normal bricks and mortar retailer.

To cite the latest, I just purchased three jackets that I won in an auction for 9 bucks each.

With taxes each came to approximately 12 bucks and then kicks in shipping.

For each of those jackets I paid shipping individually whereas the jackets arrived in a single box (makes sense logistically).

So, did I pay shipping three times over for just one shipment that your shipping agency handled? Think of it here..... 3 jackets at 9 bucks each - 27 bucks taxes for the three - 7 bucks Shipping for three - 15 bucks !!!!

Dudes, it wasn't even an overseas shipment and even then I doubt whether I would be paying so much for shipment at all!!

The customer service department just says that its a company policy and that you are not concerned so who the heck is concerned ??

My personal belief is that you guys may be taking a cut off such unfair shipping practices and make extra money whereas the customers are just getting rogered in the process.
