Four years ago I purchased a Compaq 4700 series PC from Best Buy. It was the top of the line computer at the time. After six months, my hard drive crashed and I had to have it replaced by Best Buy. Two months later, my sound board went out and that had to be replaced. 14 months later the Sleep button broke on top of the tower, causing the computer to go into sleep mode and I constantly had to reboot. I took this pc back to Best Buy for repairs and was told that this was a known problem with Compaq and the parts were on back order. They had to wait until the part was available to make the repairs.

It took 5 months for the part to come in. All this time I was without a pc. When I fiinally arrived at Best Buy to pick up my pc, we decided to test everything before we left the repair facility. Guess what, we couldn't get the pc to boot up at all. The hard drive failled again. Thank God I purchased an extended warranty from Best Buy. Best Buy has a policy that if you return anything you purchase more than 3 times for repairs, you get another item of the same value as your original purchase price.

They declared my pc to be a lemon and I was able to pick out a new PC. This time I chose an HP 600MZ PC with all the bells and whistles. It's been more than a year now and I haven't had any problems with HP. MORAL OF THE STORY: Stay away from COMPAQ
