After taking my 2000 GMC CK3500 4x4 to my local dealer for a vibration problem, it was deemed by the dealer that the tires were defective. (There are numerous high and low spots on the tires and were very difficult to balance.) I went to my nearest General Tire Dealership and asked to have my tires inspected. I was rudely told that it was a mechanical problem and not the tires. This was said without them even looking at the tires!! I then called General Tire direct. I was basically given the same rude treatment and told that it was the dealers responsibility.

I then forwarded this information to the dealer, who in turn contacted General Tire, and was told the same thing. (strictly a mechanical problem) It is in my opinion that any good buisines would at least look at the problem instead of blowing it off. I have complained to GM in hopes of some sort of resolution. Maybe a change in tire manufactures by GM would wake up General Tire to the fact that an effort to resolve problems in lieu of Rude treatment to all would serve their company much better.

We are still in the process of resolving this issue with General Tire. We have yet to get a response from them. (At least one showing concern) With all the tire problems in the news these days, and the numerous lawsuits against Firestone, one would think that General Tire might just be a bit more concerned about possible defects in their product!

I've had the same problem with some General Exclaim UHP's I bought for my 08 Jetta and received the same treatment. They told me it was an "equipment problem" and blewoff my compliant. I spent $125 for an independent inspection and found out the tires had excess runout. I went back to the dealer and they still didn't want to help. After threating to reverse the credit card transaction and leave them on their doorstep they decided to replace the tires. Guess what? The new set is no better. I called General tire and they blew me off and tiold me to go back to the dealer who in turn told me there was nothing more he would do for me. I took my car to the dealer and they were able to road force balance them so the car was drivable on the interstate again but I can still feel a vibration. Now one of the tires is slowly losing air for no reason...I'm through with General tire forever!
