RE: Boardwalk Apartments, Santa Clara, CA - upset about rent increases, upset about maintenance situation Hi,

I wish to file a complaint against Boardwalk apts in Santa Clara, not only so that I can voice things to the general public but also because I have tried bring things to Apt. Manager as well as Property Managers attention, but with no results.

I have lived in Boardwalk apts for 3 and 1/2 yrs+ now and it has gotten from bad to worse in my experience. There are several issues with the apt but I am particularly frustrated with couple of issues

- Rent: Needless to say I have renewed my lease several times and every time I have done that, I have called comparablel apts in the area (which they recommend), and have consistently found Boardwalk rent $100-$150 higher than all the competitors.

Everytime I have asked bfore signing the lease, they say our rent is very competitive and onec I find out and report it to them about lower rent else where, they dont want to listen. They just say "sorry". The only reason we havent moved out of this complex is due to the job uncertainty and moving cost being more than the savings but that doesnt mean they exploit ppl.

- Maintainance: Apt is old and has several maintainance issues, like insects/bugs outside, Lots of webs outside apt near the entrance and patio etc. On top of that they have been fixing outside walls, parking lot, roofs etc etc and causing residents discomfort of keep their sutff moving and continuously worrying about not forgeting that some maintance is going on and we have to make sure we move our stuff or park somewhere else or do not open our patio. Roof work they did, ruined all the plants I had !!

-Today (08/25/2003) I had power outage in the apt (for no appearnt reason) and they are taking several hrs only becoz they didnt listen to the voice mail which I left during the NORMAL working hrs! on top of that they are saying it might not be done today!! I am suppose to live without POWER whole NIGHT? to this question apt manager had no answer!! and power outage is supposed to be an EMERGENCY!!

I have brought all these things to not only to apt managers attention but also to corp office and property manager, but no use.

Here is the information for apt and their corporate office.

Please do the needful.
