Complaints.com received the following consumer message on August 24, 2003:

After years of my repeatedly purchasing Coach belts, always selling at top prices, I will henceforth forego purchasing any of their products. 2 black Coach belts both recently ‘split’ so that the decorative facing was almost completely separated from the belts’ backing.

When Coach was informed of this at their store in Ellenton, Florida and by “888” telephone to headquarters in Jacksonville, they told me that repairs possibly could be undertaken if belts were mailed to them but that a $20 charge per belt would apply to these nearly new items which had been sold with a ‘lifetime guarantee.’ Other potential customers should be duly warned about this company and its products.
