CIC Credit Monitor Svc - charged $ 79.95 from a company have never heard of

Complaints.com received the following consumer message on August 23, 2003:

RE: CIC Credit Monitor Svc - charged $ 79.95 from a company have never heard of I received my Credit Card Statement today and saw a charge for $79.95 from a company I never heard of...CIC Credit Monitor Service out of California. I tried to contact them but they are not in over the weekend.

When I did a search on the Internet I came up with many complaints about this company. Is there anything that can be done with or to them? Some people just pay there bills without checking them for accuracy and I guess that is what these scum bums hope for.

How can they get away with this and how do they get our Credit Card numbers to make the charges?
