WLI Travel Services - Classmates.com - unknowing charged for WLI via Classmates.com registration

Complaints.com received the following consumer message on August 22, 2003:

I discovered in May that I was being charged $6 a month by WLI Travel Services for something I did not sign up for. My bank reversed the charges but then I saw another one. I call the bank and they gave me the 800 number for WLI (800-890-4892).

When I called they said that the acct had been canceled because of the chargeback but that I was signed up as a free trial when I signed up for Classmates (which I did). I would NOT sign up for any travel services even as a free trial because I never sign up for things that then become a for fee service.

I know myself too well. I am going to contact Classmates because however this happened Classmates is an enabler in this questionable process. Both companies are engaging in questionable business practices; they may not be illegal (or they may) but they are not above board. Nancy Tang
