RE: Chase - unhappy with banking charges

Dear Sir or Madam,

I have recently come to Texas under contract, but have a Chase small business account in NY. I am concerned at the level of surcharges levied on Chase's customers. Since the bank was taken over by Stanley Morgan, there is no direct contact to or accountability by a human representative. This is

not my complaint.

My complaints are:

1. Chase charges me to use it's ATM machine in Houston off my NY account 2. Chase charges me to cash a check at my own branch off my own account. (If I need in excess of $200 in cash, I choose not to use the ATM in order to avoid setting a precedent for large cash withdrawals in case of theft or loss.) 3. Chase appear to be very sluggish in processing deposits. In fact, I am unable to deposit my checks into a Chase bank in Houston. I am obliged to send my checks by mail or Fed-Ex to the Bank by Mail repository in NY. 4. Chase are not accountable for accurate electonic banking records. Charges have been levied against my account for unavailable funds when electronic data on the account balance indicated sufficient funds. What's going on here? Although banks are regulated or so we're told, and are within their rights as business/financial institutions to enact rules and regulations for customer transactions, I feel that Chase's business practices are exploitative and unfair. The explanations offered by their business office generally says, if you don't like it, tough! I genuinely believe this is a practice across the board, whether the small business customer has an operating budget under $100k or over $10m.

I would appreciate someone investigating the fairness of charges levied on "electronic banking" which was supposed to lower customer charges, because fewer people would be working in banks. At this point, I just disgusted at the way the government allows banks to treat Americans.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Sincerely,

Deirdre Lovell
