RE: Kenya Airlines - opinion about racial profiling
Re: Racial Profiling at Kenya Airways On Saturday 3 August, I flew to Amsterdam from the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi on KQ 116. At both the Check-In counter and Gate 5 I was informed that my passport would be photocopied. I refused to comply without an adequate explanation from the customer service staff.
The best they could do was mumble about this requirement applying to Africans and Asians travelling to Europe and North America. Suffice to say, the explanation was unsatisfactory. It is blatant racial prejudice and discrimination, and is reflective of xenophobic hysteria about illegal immigrants and asylum seekers. If it is Kenya Airways policy to make copies of its passengers travel documents, in addition to the usual scrunity, then this policy must be made public in a transparent manner and must apply to all passengers irrespective of their race, nationality, gender, age and creed. As a frequent traveller, a KLM Flying Dutchman member, and a shareholder of Kenya Airways, I take great exception to this racist treatment by Kenya Airways. Similarly, as a genuine passport holder with a genuine visa and a genuine reason for travelling to my European destination, I take great offence in being treated like a criminal and having my human dignity trampled upon by Kenya Airways.
If the airline is concerned about the authenticity of its passengers' travel documents and reasons for travel, then Kenya Airways should invest in more discrete ways of pursuing its objective without subjecting its clients to the humiliating experience of racial profiling. Karimi Kinoti (Ms)

First time traveling on KQ and I already regret it. Due to not having daily flights from Lubumbashi to JNB on SAA I was forced to use KQ via NBO. Left Lubumbashi on 05th October on KQ443 ; my travel agent ordered a Moslem meal and this was confirmed by the airline. Got into the flight and first had the experience of dealing with flight attendant with no experience. FA brought a Kosher meal instead of a Moslem meal to my seat before the flight take off: I was surprised first I ordered a Moslem meal and second how a FA can serve a meal while the aircraft is still taxi. I asked the FA about my choice of Moslem meal and the answer was eat this one if you wish and we cannot assist you further. Flight from NBO to JNB on the 05th October KQ462 again unfriendly cabin crew; flight was delayed due to overbooking. Dinner was being served when I asked for my Moslem meal. FA just argued that no special meals were available on that flight and told me to be more clever next time and pre order special meals. I answered back that I had confirmation from Kenya Airways about my special meal and the boarding pass showed this: reply from her was eat this one or stay with no dinner. Where is the PRIDE OF AFRICA? KQ needs to learn from SAA what a proud African airline is. I will never again fly with KQ. Inexperienced staff both on the ground and on air.
