RE: Kodak DC4800 camera with extened warranty from Circuit City, NYC - LCD screen broken - no help or repair from extended warranty

CIRCUIT CITY/GE CONSUMER RELATIONS SERVICE To Whom It May Concern: On 04/27/01 my wife Elizabeth Sagehorn and I purchased a Kodak DC4800 camera from Circuit City store 3679 in New York City (212-387-0730). The ticket number is 367901477302. Because we are reporters and this camera is used for business, we also got the extended service plan through 04/27/05. When we called the GE Consumer Relations service plan at 800-555-4615 on Saturday, August 24th 2002 we got no service at all. The tech Glen 4612 said that the problem (an LCD screen that suddenly stopped working) was our fault. Without even seeing it, he told us that the spider web pattern on the LCD “probably meant that you broke it” and that it wouldn’t be serviced. First of all, there are no signs of damage on the outside. The glass is fine. More importantly, this camera is part of our business and believe me, we baby it.

It stays in its padded case and doesn’t get banged around. It was working fine three days before and then suddenly stopped. The camera never moved from our desk. A week later Carl4341 said that the warranty only covers hardware failure. When I said that our hardware had failed. He said it wasn't covered. We purchased the service plan expecting to get something more than lip service. (We didn't even get that.) To charge someone for services not rendered is fraud. All we want is our LCD replaced. Thanks for you help in resolving this matter.
