RE: Papagayos Mexican Restaurant, Sunrise Dr., Tucson, AZ - full value of coupon not honored
My husband and I went to dinner at about 8:20 last friday. We had a coupon that read "buy one lunch or dinner and get one free" or if going alone "buy one lunch or dinner at half price. max. discount 6 dls".
So we ordered the two dinners. When my husband paid I was at the ladies room so I did not see they had only given us $6 dls discount when our meal was over 10 dls.
When I got home, I called and the manager told me to call back on monday and talk to her . Alice Mazon..(the owner). Manager told me coupon was wrong and could not give me but $6.00 dicscount.
I called back on Monday and another manager answered the phone. She was not there but he offered to help. this was her son. He told me they should have given me 10.00 dls discount but was not sure how to do credit so he said he would have Alice call me when she got there.
Half hour later she called. She said she doesn't like doing coupons anymore because she always has problems with them. she said coupon was wrong. I repeated what the coupon said and she told me she would give me 4 dls credit next time I went to the restaurant.
I told her I prefer to have that money credited to my visa and she said "no, because that cost her money to do." So I asked her if she could mail me a check. She said no because she would have to pay for the stamp.
I told her she could deduct the .37 cents from the 4.25 she owed me. Then she said the checks cost her money too. That if I wanted to , she could send me cash but would not be responsible if I never received it. By then, I was pretty upset and told her that by her attitude she would loose customers. she said, "I have not lost one and if you don't come back, I don't loose one because you won't be back anyway."
I know most restaurants will do anything to make things right. This is the first time I run accross someone who is not willing to fix a problem. If coupon was wrong, she should have a sign posted saying there was a misprint. All the meals are over 10 dls. so how could it be one free dinner when they are only discounting 6.00 dls???
