RE: Burger King - food poisining from a BK Broiler

I got food poisoning from a BK Broiler in March of this year. It was the only thing I had eaten that day, and actually didn't eat all of it at the time as I thought it tasted funny. I ate it at lunch and by 6:30 that evening, I was int the hospital with severe vomiting and diahreaha.

It was diagnosed as food poisoning and I had IV's and spent 7 hours in the hospital until the symptoms stopped. I was very weak and shaky for two days afterwards and am very glad I did not eat the whole sandwich. I contacted the local health department and they immediately made them pull their chicken supply. And the funny thing was...two days later they pulled the BK Broiler off their market nationwide. That tells me that I wasn't the only one who got sick from their chicken.

My main complaint is...things like this happen BUT most companies would have taken care of my hospital bill and maybe some compensation. I had only asked for the bill to be paid but the run around I got on the phone was ridiculous. I sent the papers from the hospital to them like three different times and they seemed to keep losing them or claimed they never received them.

To this day, they have refused to pay the bill because "although your hospital states you had food poisoning, it does not state it was definitely from a BK Broiler." Well, I know, they know and the good Lord knows...." I GOT FOOD POISONING FROM BURGER KING FOODS".....

Whilst it's true food chains like Burger King do have many failsafes and regulations it is however not so true that they are all implemented by their staff. In a recent FSA report on fast food chains(BK included) the level of hygenie being practice exceeded the safety limit to dangerous levels. In 'normal' cases of food posioning the incubation period of upto 12 hours in most common.

I am sorry, but since food poisoning can take anything up to or even exceeding 72 hours to develop symptoms and the hospital and probably the health department arent saying that BK broiler was to blame, how can you be so sure. The majority of food poisoning occurs from food prepared and cooked in the family home. chains like burger king etc tend to have so many fail safes and regulations in place that Food Poisoning from such a place is very unlikely.

I think you should look to what you had eaten the previous two to three days before attacking the most visible cause!
