Ms. Clairol hair color - color not what expected - hair black after rinsing

Complaints.com received the following consumer message on August 26, 2002:

I bought a box of Ms. Clairol hair color last night, but the color I bought was not the color I thought it was. I thought I was buying Ms Clairol 108(reddish/brown), which I have been buying for almost 4 years now.

When I rinsed the color out, my hair was black. I have been using this same color(108) for a long time, and have never had this problem. What can I do about it besides calling the company?

I need some quick help. I don't want to walk around with black hair for the next 3 months or so, and I can't afford to have my hair fixed. HELP!! Thank You,
