RE: Wal-Mart, Rockport, TX - tried to exchange broken necklace for another necklace - received rude treatment

This is in reguards to an employee at the Rockport, Texas Walmart. I purchased a Jadite necklace about 2 months ago. The piece in the end of it that hooked to the chain came out and was lost. This was a $59.97 + tax piece of jewelery. I took it back yesterday August 12th to exchange it.

I didn't have the receipt so I was told I could do an even exchange which was fine however I was told it had to be the exact same necklace. I told her I would rather have a different kind or a bracelet because that perticular piece was not made well. She told me It was the same necklace or nothing.

She was very rude and very loudly told the poor clerk working in that department to mark it in the computor and make sure there was no receipt so that one could not be brought back. She made me feel like she thought I was a theif or something. It was very embarrassing. I have lived in Rockport for 26 years.

I worked in retail for over 12 years for the Winns Store including floor supervisor and manager. I now am a Real Estate Agent and if I was as rude to a client as she was to me I wouldn't be in business for long. My husband was in the store with me, it was our 36th anniversary and he ask me if I wanted a ring that I had been looking at there. I told him no, I would not buy anything from there any more.

We will just go to Aransas Pass to the Super Walmart to do our shopping or our new HEB. This rude persons name was Henrietta, she was a csm. I think she needs to take some lessons in customer service because she sure doesn't know anything about it now.

Thank you

Donna Barksdale

It is the policy of most stores to exchange a item for a like item if there is no receipt available..some stores wont even do that much without a receipt..
