Lowe's, Alpharetta, GA - horrible time with floor wood installation - installers given wrong product, not enough glue ordered, etc.

Complaints.com received the following consumer message on August 9, 2002:

I've had a horrible time having hard wood flooring installed through Lowe's, Alpharetta, Ga. A quick summary of the problems: -Discontinued product (flooring) presented to me as in stock. (Lowe's made good on this one- upgraded me to a better product at the same price). -Failed to deliver product even though delivery was charged. Installers went to pick up product the morning of installation and were told it had been delivered. -Installers were given wrong product to install, not enough of it, and pieces were missing. -Not enough glue was ordered to do installation. -Parts were ordered and charged that were not needed (reducers- these were eventually credited). -One part (for top of stairs) had to be special ordered and wrong color was ordered. (I had changed color choice two days after purchase, but this was 10 days before installation- the change for the special order was never made). -Installation was left unfinished and part for top of stairs was to be re-ordered. It was not reordered till I called about it 5 days later. -Store manager did agree to give me an additional 15% discount, but that was on July 31 and I've heard nothing as of today (August 9) concerning when my flooring installation will be finished. -Lowe's district office is working on this, but I've also faxed letters to their corporate customer service and Clark Howard's Consumer Action Center, neither of whom have contacted me.
