RE: Radio Shack, Colerain Township, OH - unable to use credit card because card wasn't signed

In July of 2001, I attempted to buy an antenna from the Radio Shack located in Colerain Township, Ohio, near Cincinnati. It is located in the 10000 block of Colerain Avenue. On the back of all of my credit cards, instead of signing my name, I have written "ask for ID" in order to prevent the fraudulent use of said cards. My wife and my in-laws, who were present with me at the time, have done the same with all the cards. The only employee in the store at the time, Sree, refused to accept my credit card because it was not signed! We did not have our checkbooks with us, nor did we have cash. He insisted that since I had not signed my credit card, he could not accept it. I asked to see the manager and he claimed that he was the manager.

When I told him I would report this to the distrcit manager, he told me that the district manager "does not care what you think and he will believe me over you because you are a dishonest asshole." Needless to say, we walked out and went to a nearby Wal-Mart, purchasing the antenna with our credit cards without a problem. The next day, I called the store and was told that the manager was somone other than Sree, so I wrote the letter to that gentleman, whose name I have long forgotten. Three weeks later, he responds to my inquiry in a phone call and says that he has talked things over with Sree and he understands now that he can ask for ID if a card is unsigned. Later in the week, I went in the store because I saw Sree in there. I attempted to buy some wire and tried to put it on my card. We went through the exact same routine as before: Sree would not accept my card. When I reminded him that his manager had talked to him about this, he ordered me out of the store and called me a racist! A letter to the manager of this store went totally unanswered. Last week, nearly a year later, I popped in the store to see Sree working there. In the intervening year, how many sales has Sree cost this company?
