RE: Emission Testing Station - Addison, IL - 1985 Chevy Blazer 4x4 - upset about treatment of older vehicle

I have a 1985 Chevy Blazer,4x4, and every year it had passed your emission test, never no problem with it, and then this year when it was called to take the test over, I took it in the location at Addison I found out that the facility was changed to a new IM240 test, so they had ran it on the tread mill test the first time, it had failed it was running rich of CO,

so I went and had the carburetor adjusted like they said, took it back again it failed the second time still high on CO, so I got it a tune up, ( wires, plugs, carburetor cleaned, cap, pipes, by a mechanic from merlins) and he said it would pass he had checked everything on it .

then I took it back the end of June and they put it on the IM240 machine again ran it, and right after that they ran it again twice!!! it was smoking he had ran it so hard the the gaskets started leaking oil and it failed again, ( I use my truck like 7 minutes to work and back only not on the express ways) so I had to go around and go to the office and he had opened the hood and took of the air filter and looked to see what I had put on, and when he put back the filter and closed the hood,

I left and it started to run very bad hesitating, running rough, not starting, so I had my mechanic look at it again and he said that the emission place had left some hoses of the top when he took of the air filter on the carburetor, so now the truck is dead!! he said the timing is so far of that the whole bottom of egine has to be taken off, it will cost $2,000 to fix.

First of all I had called many other mechanic and they said it shouldn't have been on the IM240 testing machine, and it states right on the emission comments section in black and white that on Feb 1, 2001 emissions standards for the IM240 test for 1988 and newer year vehicles, My truck shouldn't had been on it ( three tines).

You have cost me my truck for your incompetency. I would like some compensation for your mishandling of the older vehicles. It was a great truck before I took it to your shop. and always took good care of my vehicles.

Now I have no transportation to work, just because of this IM240 test, that my truck shouldn't have been on in the first place
