Don't pay w/ a cc!

Red Lobster

From:

Date: Tuesday, August 07, 2001 02:20 PM We dined while on vacation @ the Coeur d'Alene, ID Red Lobster Chain on 7/27/01. We paid w/ a debit/check card. The bill came to $118.93, we are not very wealthy so I filled the total out as $130.00 even (left the tip line blank..they can calculate what it was exactly). I have done this sveral times over the years w/ no prob. I got home 3 days later & checked all of my receipts thru on-line banking w/ a nationwide bank. Come to find out...they put the total in as $148.93..exactly a $30.00 tip! All the other amounts were correct w/ my other cc uses. I called the # on the restraunt receipt & got 'John' the mgr.

I told him what happened and he explained that RL goes thru a company that works w/ the cc co's and adds on 20%. This was more than 20%! I told him that we ate @ Olive garden the next night in the same town & used the same card...& that did not happen. I told him that what ever I write in the total is the ONLY amount they are to punch in. He told me to wait until I got my MAILED bank statement 1st before I called back. Well, this kind of practice is unacceptable to me...what if we chose not to leave a tip @ all! What if we can't even afford 15%? This caused me to call my bank, who agreed w/ to dispute the charges (the cs rep never heard of this either)...yes we ate there...yes it was good...now I don't even want to leave a tip @ all (unfair to our fine waiter). But I hope that this will prompt Red Lobster to use the same cc sytem everyone else does!

You frigging cheapskate. You left a shit tip. The extra money was probably a Karma charge. If you can't afford a 15% tip, then stay home!

Also.. all restaurants besides Deny's and white trash places like that.. (which I know, Its what your used to.) use these things called Micros.. you swipe the card, type in the bill amount, then type in the tip amount.. any sever could type in $100 if they want, but then they would be brought up on charges.

You mention that "What if we can't even afford 15%?" If you cant afford that then DONT F**ING EAT OUT, eating out is a luxury.. shit stains don't drive beamers.

Rant part 2, I'm done now.. white trash pisses me off, bad.

I worked at that Red Lobster in the past and I'm going to tell you right now it was probably just a mistake.. when the server was going 250 mph trying to get the food out quick for another table about ready to shoot him, he probably mistakenly pushed in $30.00 in the tip. Also.. if you tipped me $12 on a $118.93 Bill I would make sure to walk by your table with a tray full of water glasses, and trip and spill them all over you. I have personally not received less than $20 on a bill over $100.. Also, Steve (the manager) is freakin awesome, and I bet he was outraged at you even calling in saying "I was a douche bag and tiped my waiter dog shit and he fixed it.. now make it back into dog shit." this marks the end of my rant, thank you all for reading.

$11.07 is hardly a tip for a "fine waiter"

15% of that would be $17.84.

Serves you right for being cheap!

Weird. I ate there many times and it never happened to me. I think it just was some dishonest person who performed the transaction and manager just wanted to cover his back.
