Citibank MC accnt clsng hrssmnt Credit Cards, Other From: Date: Tuesday, August 07, 2001 02:00 PM My husband & I got a consolidation loan and on 8/1/01 I proceeded to close about 12 diff credit card accounts w/ no problems until I got to Citibank MC. When I first called, I got a female cs rep who asked me all of my info, then when I told her that I was closing the account, she asked why-I told her why then she said she needed to switch me to an 'account specialist'(?) to do this.
Well, I got a male who was sarcastic & condescending. He suggested that since I have a balance left on the accnt, that all creditors would look bad upon us closing a nearly maxed out accnt. (I have done this several times in my life time...never been 'looked bad upon'). I told him that I still would like it closed. He then seemed to get annoyed w/ me and said 'can you help me understand why?' I told him that I have never had any problems closing an account like this & that I felt he was doing nothing but harassing me about it and that I'd please like someone else who could help me w/ such a simple matter. He kept on until I had to shout about 3 times to get me someone else please. He finally said 'well, okaaaay then'.
There was a second of silence and I muttered 'Geezez crimony' & he says 'What did you say?' I screamed at that point to quit harassing me & get me your supervisor! well, he put me on hold for what felt like a good 5 min...I knew darn well he wasn't going to get me anyone so I hung up & called the 800 cs# again. This time I got another pleasant female named 'Tish'-I explained that I just tried to close my account & was harassed & I wanted a sprvsr ASAP. I got 'Ms Grey'. After explaining what had happened, she apologized & said she'd close it ASAP. I still asked her to put in a complaint about what had just happened...she told me that according to her computer, she was the 5th person to help me. I told her that she was the 4th, & that it was a male that haraseed me. She told me that it showed that I spoke to 2 males...I explained that it was the 1st male, because I hung up & called back before his sprvsr got on the line w/ me.
She said she couldn't do anything about what happened because I didn't write down his name & they didn't want to put in a cmplnt about the wrong person. I told her that I know that they know who I spoke to & I wanted an investigation/complaind done about this...she verified that there was nothing I could do.
