Appliances, Blenders - Hamilton Beach burned out after only 5 uses

Complaints.com received the following e-message on August 2, 2001:

I received a Hamilton Beach blender for Xmas 2000.

I have only used it a few times, probably less than 5 times.

I make a homemade dressing which was it was used for last nite and burned it up. I smelled something hot and turned it off. It would not start again.

I only used it for the french dressing and to mix lemonade a couple of weeks ago.

What can we do about this?

I have purchased 2 blenders in the past 26 years. I bought the lesser expensive kind, like $15 59 $20 range. This was a gift from my father and his wife so I know they spent more.

Is there some way we can rectify this?
