Starband promises speeds for up and downloads. They've never achieved even close to those speeds.

Starband recently 'upgraded' their modems. The new system fails more than the old one did, and all though it was free, I want my old one back, because it at least worked 75% of the time.

 

Call them on the phone, wait at least 60, maybe 90 minutes. Tech support is a crew of dorks reading from a thicker version of the owners manual, and they don't know anything about Win2K. They hang up on you if you mention 'networking' the dreaded "N" word there. I paid for a year's worth of service. I've gotten some good service on the reception side, horrible service on the upload side, and their tech support? Not even mentionable....but don't swear, not even under your breath, because "they are a good Christian company and won't tolerate that kind of language" (even though Gilat is an Israeli company) Business makes odd bedfellows, I guess....

 

Regardless, Starband has raped, pillaged, and come back for more. If I want any kind of internet service, I'm hostage...living here in the high desert.
