RE: Mac Mall
Complaints, I was reading one of the complaints and it was about the company I was employed by, Mac Mall and I have some information I would like to share on how not to get robbed by them or any other internet based company. I would also like to say that I was one of those guys that robbed my customer for every penny, I was ranked 1st in sales on my team and 3rd in the entire inbound dept. of 300 people because of these details that the customer did not check. 1) Always check on Mac Mall website to get pricing before ordering from them because for example, when you call to see how much their Ram or Memory upgrade is they will give you about a 20-25$ mark up from the catalog or web costs ( they will use their price disclosure in their catalog to make an excuse but for Memory price or they will say, well prices of memory go up and down all the time and right now the current price is $XXXX instead of $XXXX from the catalog or their website. 2) Here is how Mac Mall is making thousands of dollars from, shipping costs! I used to make Mac Mall $5k-7k profit in shipping alone! The way you avoid getting hit by that high shipping charge is to make sure you go through the complete order with every costs that you will be charged on your credit card, what I would do is again check their website and choose your shipping carrier. This will give you the cost they should charge you. Also when the customer is trying to make a deal and say oh Mac Connections has if for this much. I would tell the customer oh yeah I'll match that! Then I would add the amount I lost from the matching price over to the shipping cost. I would also suggest going over your invoice when you receive your order. Do let them take advantage of you! I got a letter a month later saying they would not honor the rebate. This after I went through the rebate process with one of their phone personnel to make sure I filled out the forms correctly. They ensured me I had. I will never shop there again and I will tell everyone I know what a rip off company they are. We're building a new server for the office and we ordered four (4) XSERVE 2GZ QX 1GB/80/CB/2XGBE/OSXUNL units from MacMall. It appeared to be a pretty good deal, considering they are year old technology (which is OK for a server). Everything went off fine until I got a call today from a guy named Mark at extension 8777 who proceeded to push the extended service policy for the computers like a demon-possessed used car salesman. This joker was yelling and interrupting and actually at one point told me how dumb I was for not wanting the policy since Apple stuff breaks within a year (excuse me, my current G5 servers have run for over six years straight without any problems). I canceled the order.... ... and will go back to ordering directly from Apple's online store. At least their computer won't tell me how dumb I am for buying their products. My latest purchase of a 24" iMac has not been so lucky. The iMac had problems within days of its arrival, and MacMall's Tech Support suggestions were unsuccessful. The Apple Store tech help diagnosed a faulty logic board, but they wanted me to return it to MacMall to be issued a new computer. Well, it is not MacMall's policy to replace, and instead I am in a one month stranglehold of FedExing the computer back to Memphis, TN then waiting while they diagnosed the faulty logic board and now they have ordered the new part. Next will be the repair and shipment back to me, and that time is uncertain. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND ANYONE OUT THERE CONSIDERING MACMALL TO SERIOUSLY RE-CONSIDER!
