RE: Computer Books Direct - turned over to a collection agency for an invoice that was paid over two years ago
Computer Book Direct has turned us over to a collection agency to collect on an invoice that was paid over two years ago. We had a long hassle with them: somehow we had ended up with two accounts. I paid the invoice and it was credited to the wrong acccount so we had one account with a credit and the other with that same amount due. We wrote back and forth for over four months; they kept saying I never responded. I finally sent the information certified with a return receipt.
I suggested that they either send me the money from the account with credit or, better, transfer the money to the other account. After sending copies of all the proof AGAIN and this time with the return receipt as stated, I did not hear from them again so I figured they finally got their accounts straight. After hearing nothing more for a year and a half, I tossed all the paper work. About a month after that, we received a notice from Allied Interstate saying they were collecting on the account. I replied immediately (2/26/2003) and went through the whole long story once again. Today, (4/8/2003), I received another letter, stating "due to my continued silence" etc. I am thoroughly sick of this harrassment. I responded with a certified letter but I do not know if this will do any good. What can we do to stop these idiots from trying to collect on a paid account? The collection agency is (where I sent the first response): Allied Interstate\PO Box 9017 Oceanside, NY 11572 The latest response was sent to Allied Interstate (Attn: Matt Donohue, Collection Manager) PO Box 361565 Columbus OH 43236 Gail Pittsford Email User From: Message Author (click here to email author) Date: Thursday, 10-Apr-03 00:00:00 CDT Business: Reply Online Consumer: Comment On This |
