Symantec 2003 Norton AntiVirus - unable to send fax to number given - e-mails not responsed to - unable to get $ 30 rebate

Complaints.com received the following on April 15, 2003:

I have a complaint regarding Symantec's Rebate Department. I have filed several rebates with

Symantec this year. They have paid one, albeit it very late. Regarding the other rebate, Symantec sent

me a postcard saying that the rebate required the purchase of another product (the rebate was for $30

for Norton Anitviris 2003).

They did not tell me what the required product was (I did purchase several Symantec products at once - including Systemworks 2003 and Intuit's TurboTax Deluxe and Quicken 2003. I'm sure one of these products was the other product required for the rebate, but the problem is Symantec will not answer my question about the product in question. Unfortunately, I cannot seem to find a copy of the submittal. I contacted Symantec via email and asked what was needed to satisfy the rebate.

They answered (via a form email) that I should send pertinent documentation to a fax #. I have been trying for three weeks to get through to the fax # they gave me and it either isn't a working fax # or is always busy. I have written them two additional emails which they have not responded to and have called twice and left my number for a callback which they promise to return within 24 hours - they haven't returned the first phone call. Beware to those consumers seeking rebates from Symantec. It seems to me they will use any excuse not

to pay a rebate and don't expect any meaningful response from their rebate department.
