On March 26th 2003 we reserved a room in Overland Park KS at the MicroTel through Motels.com . We were told these were the best rates to be found. When we checked into the hotel we went to the pool to find out there was not a kids pool like the web site listed.
The hot tub water was green, and had a very bad odor. When we went back to our room we had no running water due to a pipe being cut earlier that morning. Had no way of showering or going to the restroom. We left hoping to come back and have water that evening. When we returned the water was still off. It was coming on 9 pm so we got the kids ready for bed. While laying in bed the remote dropped and the batteries came out. While looking for the batteries we seen roaches and silver fish behind the head of the bed. We called to complain and was told to come get a can of bug spray. I spent the next hour and a half calling hotels in the area to try and find a different place. Finally finding one, our choice was to have to stay in the Microtel of Overland Park for the evening and check out the next day. When we went to check out we were told our room rates were 44.95, when I returned home I found out Motels.com would not honor that rate but instead we were charged 76.00 a night. I explained the situation but they kept telling us that 44.95 is what they paid for the room and that Microtel was in the wrong for disclosing that amount.
Yet I tried to explain that it was posted on the sign outside the hotel. They would not budge and only said I needed to contact them within 24 hours if I found the rate to be better then the 76.00. I am very frustrated and will not ever use Hotels.com OR stay in a Microtel again. Please post this letter for others to see, so they do not go through what my family and I had to.
