Kitchen Aid dishwasher - Defective rack - white finish coming off upper and lower rack

Complaints.com received the following consumer message on April 22, 2002:

RE: Kitchen Aid dishwasher - Defective rack - white finish coming off upper and lower rack I purchase a Kitchen Aid dishwasher on October 23, 1999. The Model Number is KUDG25SHBL1 and the Serial Number is FJ3612261.

Recently I noticed that the white finish is coming off of the upper and lower rack, and there is rust inside of the dishwasher.

The instruction manual indicates that there is only a 1 year warranty on the dishwasher, but I feel that there is defect with the racks that has caused them to rust so quickly.

I have contacted the company in January of this year, and they refuse to accept any responsibility for the problem.
