RE: BEST BUY, Charleston, SC - NEEDS A COURSE IN CUSTOMER SERVICE
Dear Complaints,
On April 6, 2002, I purchased a monitor from Besy Buy in Charleston, South Carolina. BIG MISTAKE! Everytime I have ever been in that store, I've had a problem. This time was no different. They get an attitude, when they see something coming back. When I got the monitor home, the screen was black one inch on both sides. I called the manufacturer.
They told me that the monitor was defective, and to return it back to the store of purchase. The reason I bought the monitor in the first place, was because, the CRT went bad in the one I had. So, I was interested in the warrenty of the CRT. The salesman told me that no manufacturer's warrenty covered that. So before I carried the monitor back, I got on the internet, and printed off three manufacturer's who did.
April 13, 2002, I made the return to the store. First I approached the saleman that sold me that no good monitor. (He had insisted I buy Best Buy's extended warrenty of $49.99 to cover the CRT. Dumb me fell for it. I figured, he knew what he was talking about.
He was just telling me anything to get me to make a purchase.) I paid by check, and needed to purchase another one, but not from Best Buy. When I showed him what I had found on the internet, he stated that, that was news to him. I wanted to know why he told me something that was not true.
The salesman then was very rude. I then approaced the store's manager, which told me, that if I called one of those manufacturer's that he bet they wouldn't honor that warrenty. I told him I had called one, and that they would honor that warrenty.
I had paid by check, and I know that the check had already cleared the bank, but I was told very rudly, that I would have to wait on a check from them. I haven't yet received that check. I needed that money to buy another monitor, and no, I was not going to buy it from Best Buy. The store's manager was very ugly to me. The store's manager acted as if I should have kept the defective monitor, and that I was bothering him. So, you can imagine how upset I was. Then I went to Circuit City.
However the store's manager there, calmed me down, and made sure I carried a monitor home that worked. Best Buy needs to know that the customers keep them in business. Now I want you to know I live 50 miles from Charelston. So I lost alot of time, and money, because of Best Buy. But I will bet you, that will never happen again. I don't appreciate going into a store, that treats their customers badly. I AM THOUGH WITH BEST BUY!
