RE: Cross Country Bank credit card - did not "activate" account, but received charges Last month I recieved a credit card from Cross Country Bank and noticed it had a 50 dollar service fee so I did not activate it. The credit limit was only 350 dollars and to pay 50 dollars to use it sounds stupid to me. I put the card in a drawer and forgot it.
Yesterday about one month after getting card ( not activated) I recieved a bill for 152 dollars.......Duh.....how can I owe on a card I never activated.
After numerous trys I finally got a human to talk to on a long distance charged line. The womamn I talked to could obviously not hear, because everytime I asked a question she asked me another and never answered what I asked.
I told her I did not activate the card and hence do not owe them any money. She said she had to ask me some questions....which I answered. Then she asked why do you not want the card. Ok here we go again with me explainging the situation, I repeatedly asked if this would show up on my credit report, to which she ignored. I said " Lady I DO NOT WANT YOUR CARD".
She replied , if you do not want the card we can zero it out. Again I asked if this will show up on my account, this went on for 10 minutes until I really lost it, and said answer me, finally she said it will not show up on my credit and card will be zeroed out. We shall see if I get another bill for what I never used.
This should be illegal! Not sure whaere to go from here. BEWARE of Cross Country Bank credit cards is all I can say.
