RE: AT&T Telemarketers - unable to get removed from calling list, despite multiple requests

About six months ago, when dinner was (again) interrupted by a rude and pushy AT&T telemarketer, I told him (I am certain he gave me a bogus name, as he would not give me his operator id number) to remove me from the call list.

He assured me that he would, but processing would take approximately 30 to 90 days. Here it is, six months and probably two calls a month later, and I am still receiving calls from these charming people. Each informs me that it will take 30 to 90 days.

When asked why my number is still on their calling list, the telemarketer in today's call informed me that they have over 90 call centers and perhaps that's why my number is still on their list. It sounds exactly as he said... this money hungry corporation with no regard for its customers can't control the network of telemarketers they've created. Additionally, AT&T is a proud sponsor of the Gay Pride parades and, according to a salesperson, responsible for service to about 90% of the dial-up pornographic sites that disconnect you from the internet to access pornography with no regard to your age.

Yes, folks, your 13 year old has free access to a 900 number from your computer with no regard to his age. As long as they have your telephone number on their caller ID, you, too will get a huge bill, not realizing that AT&T will provide smut to ANYONE as long as they can get money for it! I have no idea how to stop them from calling. Taking legal action is a ridiculous measure, particularly when there are no truly identifying means for the telemarketers.
