RE: Automobile Finance Company - Auto One Acceptance Corporation - still waiting for paid letter
Hello,
This complaint is regarding a co-signed automobile loan for my son, in California.
12 months before he was to pay the account off, his employment was interrupted. Initially, the finance company representatives worked with him to maintain healthy payment activity. Several months later, the finance company in California closed and our account was transferred to Dallas, Texas.
At that point, our credit file was updated to reflect that we had two accounts with Auto One. One in Dallas, and one in California reflecting that the amount was charged off in full, both accounts reflected the original amount of the loan. We were told this was required until the loan was paid in full.
Several months after that transfer, the Dallas branch representative began to pressure my son for full payment of all arrears and current on-time payments. Well within their right. After I began to receive several calls I convinced my son to voluntarily return the car and pay any amount owed, after it was sold. He did that in December 2001.
Now, four months later, after repeated requests, we have never received a paid letter. The Dallas branch did up date our credit file to reflect Paid charge off with no balance, yet they refuse to update our files to reflect that the California branch account is paid and a duplicate.
