RE:Tristate Consumer Insurance Co.
I am writing in regards to Tristate Consumer Insurance Co. We were quoted a car insurance rate on a trailblazer we own. Believe it or not, we were turned down due to the fact that my husband owns a van (which has a separate insurance policy) and is a union carpenter.
Our driving records are excellent. We were actually told over the phone these reasons as well as a letter they sent us that they could not insure us because we have an unacceptable car in the household as well as an occupational hazard exposure.
Not only is this a form of racism but it is an outright disgrace that we could be turned down for car insurance due to my husbands career choice. But once again as middle class citizens we are forced again to just accept this unless somebody can offer some advice.
