Whirlpool - Water Heater

Purchased a new Whirlpool 50 gal gas water heater with 6 year warranty Dec 2011. Today water began pouring out of the electronic burner control. Contacted customer service for assistance. No help, cheaply made plastic parts. Replacement parts not stocked locally and Whirlpool wants to charge $30.00 to get the part tomorrow. No pro-rated warranty for assistance. What do I do for water until? Where is the pride in quality of product and standing behind it? Previous heater without plastic parts of another brand lasted 15 years.
