I've learned that there's one thing you can count on Ebay for, and that's to drop the ball. Their ?buyer protection? is worthless, and that lesson has cost me $416.00. Ebay is protecting a dishonest seller. They have closed a claim case, with the knowledge that proper delivery protocol was not followed, and that the item has been returned to the seller. The seller, tray1119ted, has both the item I paid for, and my $416.00. Ebay's advice is for me to file an interstate small claims suit if I want my money back-ridiculous. Ebay closed the case without even tracking the item, but when pressed acknowledged that it has been returned to the seller. On top of that, I can't even leave honest feedback to warn other buyers-Ebay blocked it since they decided the case in his favor, allowing him to keep both the item and the money with no consequences whatsoever. I have been run around in circles for weeks between Ebay and Paypal. Emails are ignored, and if you do get someone on the phone, they just make an excise to call back, then never follow through. Hard to believe I'm out $416.00 while Ebay knows the seller has the item, and my money. Do yourself a favor an stick with reputable sites like Amazon. The best recourse in this case is to file a complaint with the CA State Attorney Generals Office, naming the Ebay CEO, John Donahoe, 400 R Street, Sacramento, CA 95814 in the complaint. One of the big mistakes ebay buyers make is NOT checking feedback before purchasing.

Another is leaving feedback too quickly. Buyers leave positive feedback only to find a few days later the product quality was severely lacking. Wait at least 30 days after receiving your item to leave feedback. That gives times for deficiencies to show.

Avoiding buyers who choose to make their items and feedback private is also a good idea.

I have purchased hundreds of ebay items with very little problem. Just be careful.
