The Philips model 22PFL4507 flat screen tv claims to be able to play video from a USB memory stick. It doesn?t.

Upon calling customer service I was told the tv can only communicate with a USB memory stick no larger than 4 GB [not big enough for most movies]. It will not recognize common formats and upon checking further it appears this tv only recognizes some obscure video format which is obsolete.

One Philips customer service rep said the tv would recognize video in the .AVI format. The next customer service rep said this was incorrect. Philips customer service personnel don?t seem to have a clue as to what they are doing.

In effect although it has a USB input, this function is totally useless.

The Philips model 22PFL4507 tv shows a good picture, but many of its supposed functions do not work. The computer input has no audio input so it can?t be used to watch a movie from a computer, only picture.

This tv is a good buy if you only want to use half of its advertised functions. otherwise I?d suggest buying a different brand. They don?t enclose an owners manual, you have to download the manual from the internet [if you can find it] and print it out ? assuming you have a computer with internet access and a printer, [not everybody does]. It took me 1/2 an hour on the Philips site to find the owners manual. i only hope our nuclear weapons codes are as well hidden as the

Philips owners manuals.

Philips has fallen a long way from what they used to be. Customer service won?t even answer e-mail inquiries.

Philips is no longer the brand name of a product I?d buy for this household. Following this experience, I?ll probably never buy a Philips branded product again.
