When an auction item is won, the buyer is legally held to complete purchase & retrieval. On the flip side, the seller & auction outlets are NOT. NO enforcement is possible. If the seller refuses to sell an item at the "HAMMER DOWN" price, nothing can be done. It would be comparable to buying a car from a dealer with contract in hand to take possession of the car, & they won't give it to you. It has happened twice with me via Proxibid the first time, & now via Proxibid & Bidtrader a second time. There was NO RESERVE & I was notified 3 times (once each from above companies, & once by invoice) I was the winner.

Proxibid's rep, Jim Norris, only stated seller was supposed to sell item at won price. I talked with the seller with only a statement he couldn't sell for that price & blamed auction for a mistake. The auction houses said there was no mistake.
