BEFORE you go for a cataract operation, DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!

I have cateracts, and before I got total information (wrong information), I had invested 359.00 for the eye exam. THEN found I could not go any further. Why? I was told my share of the hospital bill would be app. 335. (per eye), that Medicare would pay 80% of the hospital bill. The hospital bill would be app. 6,190.00 (per eye).

I was NOT told (but found later, that):

Medicare ONLY pays for in-patient hospitalization,

Medicare will NOT pay if you have plan A only.

The cost of the anestigolist is seperate!

I am living on S.S., and knew that the bill for the Doctor, eye drops, exams, and after care would be my responsibility, and figured that into my budget. With help from Finiancial Aid, my portion of the hospital bill would bring me over (way over) my budget.I had to cancel any and all further work. So-- I am faced with doing nothing and (eventually ) going blind.

Don't take my word for it, DO YOUR HOMEWORK.fIND OUT WHAT THEY AREN'T TELLING YOU!

I don't know what the alternatives are (I'm still digesting the info I have).

If you see an old blind lady on the street, PLEASE buy my pencils!! M.
