Product: These little cards with product validation numbers

Company: Microsoft

Location: US

URL: www.microsoft.com

Category: Computers, Software

I bought a product validation number from Microcenter, a computer store. Instead of the Office disks - you get a little card with a number on it. I tried the number. It said the store hadn't validated the card.

Took it back.

Went to Best Buy. Bought another card. Followed instructions. Said the product validation card had not been validated at the store. I took it back. Best Buy assured me they had validated the card. But they gave me a new card and validated it. I punched in the new numbers. Message came up that the card had not been validated at the store.

I called Microsoft. They basically said there was nothing they could do about it.

I figured this out on my own. My computer came with a version downloaded on it of Windows Office. The validation card was for another version. I decided to delete the previous version and then try the validation number. It worked. Now why couldn't the "help" person at Microsoft Office "help" help me?
