I inadvertently signed up for an auto renewal of a service by When I realize they had charged my credit card I called and told them to cancel. They refused. They said I had to do it before the auto renewal according to there terms of service. This payment is made in advance of any service rendered. In this day and age this policy is gouging and greedy.

Absolutely. VERY BAD business practices. No attempt to correct billing issues (even without authorization). Should not be in business.

Yes, they set me up on auto renewal without my authorization and will not return my call. In the past I have always negotiated what I paid for this service, they just tried to bill be full price and of course I am disputing it.
