I contracted with Vocus for 24 press releases about my book, The Casual Christian, for a price of $1800. We agreed that my releases would consist primarily of commentary based on my message as it relates to current events. But whenever I submitted a release, it was rejected on the basis that it was opinion, not news. So I asked for $1200 of my $1800 back, since I had been able to get approval for eight of the 24 promised releases. They would only promise $300 because I got an especially good deal. The price was agreed upon by both parties at the time of signing as was the editorial nature of the releases, so I should be entitled to a prorated refund of $1200.
I also learned that their sales manager, Brian Gilmore, is a registered sex offender and I am wondering if one of the reasons my releases have been rejected is because they are highly critical of churches that cover up sexual abuse by clergy.
