Autohaus body shop performed repairs on my 1988 Porsche totaling $8,364.25. One of the repairs was the realignment and refinishing (painting) of the hood panel. Last April (2011) the paint on the hood panel began to crack and eventually peeled off the hood almost entirely. Although the repairs were performed in 1997, problems such as this usually take some time to manifest themselves. I believe the reason for the peeling may have been improper surface preparation. The hood panel is made of aluminum, which requires a different process than used when painting steel panels. I turned to Porsche of Northamerica to elicit their assistance in the issue. They contacted Autohaus, who again refused to do anything about the peeling paint citing storage issues with the car. The car has been garaged or placed beneath a carport since the day I purchased it. They used this as a pretext for refusing to deal with the issue. At the time I lived in Newark, DE and elected to have Autohaus, perform the repairs since they are a Porsche dealership and I thought they would do quality work. Don't make the same mistake... avoid doing business with Autohaus. Buy your vehicles elsewhere and absolutely do not have any body or other repair work performed by Autohaus.

15 YEARS???? If your hood was less than perfect at the time of repair, and as you say "Aluminium" this will happen eventualy.

By the way, what is their published warranty?
