My Oreck Vaccum died while under warrantee. They claim the motor burned up because it was stressed so it isnt covered. There was no visible damage to the exterior of the machine. I am an electrical engineer. There is no way to tell the difference between a faulty motor winding and a stressed motor. Even if something caught in the vaccum to stress the motor, it is a design flaw. It should have a circuit breaker to protect it, like the beater bar on most canister vaccums such as Sears.

I AM HAVING A SIMILAR PROBLEM. ORECK WANTS OVER $200 TO REPAIR THE MOTOR AND THE VACUUM CLEANER IS ONLY ABOUT 5 YRS OLD. NO HELP FROM CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Try going to another Oreck store. I did and they fixed it under warrantee, no questions asked,
