WARNING TO ALL HARD-WORKING FAMILIES!! DO NOT BUY DOORS FROM NICKS BUILDING SUPPLY (located in Crown Point, Indiana), before you READ THIS!

In September 2010, we entered into a contract with Nick's Building to have 2 custom doors made for our home. After much delay, we finally received our doors on March 11, 2011. We had expert installers at our home ready to install the doors on that date. To our dismay, they confirmed that the doors were too large, and could not be installed. We immediately placed a call to Nick's Building Supply to advise them of this problem. They advised us that there should be no problem with the size and told us to seek a further opinion from another door installer. We began the process of receiving the expert opinion of three other door installers to confirm that they could not be installed. Each door installers confirmed the same thing. We spoke to Pete Drasic, operations manager and John Thorski, salesman. During the whole ordeal, we kept asking to speak to the owners of the company, Lou or Karl. WE HAVE YET TO HEAR FROM EITHER ONE OF THEM!!!! THEY HAVE REMAINED SILENT THROUGHOUT OUR WHOLE ORDEAL. We had no alternative but to return the doors, however, we were immediately advised that we would be subject to a 25% restocking fee upon return of the doors. We were shocked and appalled to hear this. We still wanted 2 doors for our home. We did not change our mind! We just received doors that did not fit. This was a mistake made by Nick's Building or their supplier and WE GOT PENALIZED FOR THEIR ERROR.

We rented a cube van and returned the doors in person, thinking that they would retract their policy and accept responsibility. After travelling approximately 1,000 miles (approx. 1,600 kms) return trip from Vaughan, Canada to Indiana, U.S.A., in a cube van and incurring costs for an overnight stay, plus gas and truck rental, we were still denied a full refund. THEY STAUNCHLY ADHERED TO COMPANY POLICY EVEN THOUGH THEY ADMITTED IT WAS THEIR MISTAKE.

ASK YOURSELF: IS THIS THE KIND OF COMPANY YOU WANT TO DO BUSINESS WITH? AND ALSO ASK YOURSELF IF YOU WANT TO DO BUSINESS WITH A COMPANY WHOSE OWNERS ARE VACANT AT ALL TIMES AND WHO DO NOT EVEN EXTEND THE COURTESY OF A PHONE CALL OR ANY ACKNOWLEDGEMENT WHATSOEVER? DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR! LOOK ELSEWHERE. In fact, after conducting further research, I have discovered another door supplier located in Chicago by the name of DOORS FOR BUILDERS ??? Ask for Daniel

You are not the only one. I have never had a worse experience with a vendor. I've built many custom homes and this company gave me the run around like no other company. Trust me if you have an issue with their product and you get treated like I did, it will be months of battling. I believe their policy is to drag it out until you give up. Do yourself a favor and stear clear. I think they have a few different websites with different names. If you are purchasing doors from Crown Pointe Indiana, I would be very sure it's not Nicks Building Supply
