D-link - D-link refuses to honor produxt warranty

Tech support department refused to issue an RMA for a defective product 6 months into the one-year warranty period. The customer was kept on the phone for over four hours (the item retails for less than $70) and forced to apply useless configuration setting changes to the unit when it was functioning only intermittently. The failed condition of the unit was verified by an I.T. engineering professional and because the customer declined spending more of their time "adjusting" the product (that worked in place properly without fail for six months) D-link has apparently closed the issue and refuses to respond further to customer requests for the warranty to be honored.

I am in hte midst of a similar experience with D-link, also regarding a DIR-655 router failure. They are directing me to install firmware upgrades without providing any rationale as to how that could fix the failure.
