We have 2005 Jeep Wrangler with 22K miles on it and the tail lights were not working so we took it to Uftring Automall to get it checked out. They said the wiring harness had a problem and they installed a "jumper wire" to get the tail lights to work. Cost was $140 ... much less than a new wiring harness. We called Jeep Assistance even though we were past the 36 month warranty but with low mileage we thought they would assist with this issue. Their response was on out of warranty help they usually ask the customer to pay the deductible and the $140 cost was in that range so they would not pay. We asked it they had other wiring harness issues and they said no. So apparently we got the lemon as only 22K miles of city driving seemed unrealistic to have this issue. We asked, if we would have requested a new wiring harness and spent considerable more money what would Jeep have done and they said then we would have probably got their help as the deductible would have been our cost. So I guess from Jeep's perspective we would have been out the $140 no matter which path we took to fix the Jeep and buy potentially saving them considerable money (cost of new harness assembly installed) our thanks was a big fat zero. Jeep should have done the right thing here and stood behind their vehicle since wiring harnesses by their experience are not common failures and our Jeep was apparently the exception. One unhappy customer here in Illinois.
