I purchased a Maytag dishwasher in April 2009. It worked for 20 washes, and then the computer panel stopped working in January 2010. I called for service immediately, and got a weekend service scheduled a month later, February 2010. The service woman stated the dishwasher computer panels have a problem with humidity and that it costs several hundred dollars to replace them. Mine was still under warranty, and I complained enough to get an extended warranty. However, the same thing has happened again. I only got 8 more washloads out of it before the panel broke down again. Service couldn't be scheduled for 7 weeks (June 8th is soonest date) because the "expert" they want to look at the machine isn't available on weekends or evenings. I paid $549 for this machine, plus an additional $139.99 for delivery and installation. It was far too much money to have nothing more than a dish drying rack, which is all this machine is good for.

I also purchased a Maytag dishwasher in Nov 2009. It worked sporadically until Oct 2011. Needs a new control panel that will not be available until Mar 2012 at the earliest!! That is 6 (SIX)months to get a part - and the repair is going to cost almost $400. This is a total rip off. I am a VERY dissatisfied customer. Will never purchase another Whirlpool/Maytag appliance again.

As a follow-up to this complaint, the part for the dishwasher came in March 2012 and was installed. The dishwasher failed again on May 3, 2012. FYI, Whirlpool only guarantees their parts for 30 DAYS!! No surprise there, they are manufacturing junk. Never will purchase another product made by Whirlpool.

We also have a Maytag dishwasher Model MD87609AWW2, which has failed after only 2-3 years of use. It's the typical problem of blinking lights on the touch pad because the computer panel is malfunctioning that we've seen in complaints all over the internet. Maytag has clearly failed in the engineering department or somewhere else along the line, and they need to come clean and address this issue and make good. This is a major issue. A dishwasher, let alone a Maytag, should never fail after 2-3 years of use.
