Kenmore vacuum cleaner causing carpet to melt

Kenmore vacuum cleaner causing carpet to melt Hello, For the last 6 months we have noticed spots that looked like glue stains on our carpet. We could not figure out were they came from. We used a commercial carpet cleaner to see if we could get rid of these spots. I did not work. Every month a few more appeared. Then we finally put two and two together and figured out that our vacuum cleaner was causing this. While using the vacuum cleaner I looked behind me and noticed three large spots that were not there before I started to vacuum that day. Since the spots were larger I could tell that the carpet had melted. I would like to know from if there are any other complaints like this out there so that I have something concrete to complain about the Sears. Our Kenmore vacuum cleaner is model number is 116.22749C Purchased in Oct.07 I would grateful for any comments or suggestions. I assumed that the brush bristles are very stiff and we left the vacuum in one location for too long. I have searched for a replacement brush with soft bristles, with no luck. I found an interesting thread with several experiences: http://www.planetfeedback.com/index.php?level2=blog_viewpost&topic_id=282411&reply_id=6835 From thread: "What *did* work and created a new melted area was touching the head lightly to the carpet for just a few seconds. Apparently, a very light touch -- which occurs occasionally during normal vacuuming, depending on height setting -- allows the carpet fiber to remain standing without slowing or bending the brush bristles, and this friction leads to very high temperatures very quickly." I plan to replace this vacuum when I have the money....the next one WILL NOT be a Kenmore.
