Kenmore Elite Bottom Freezer Refrigerator

Our very expensive Kenmore refrigerator nearly caught on fire. Lights stayed on inside refrigerator after doors were closed. Bulbs got so hot, the plastic light housing melted and fell apart, some of the plastic burned, and food on top shelf was warm.

Sears has known about this problem for quite a while according to all the complaints I found online, yet they have not issued a recall.

Try unscrewing the bulbs(without burning your fingers ) wait a few minutes the plug them back in,,it may reset the puter,,By the way this fridge sucked when i bought it and it still sucks

I would like to know what ever happened with this problem? I have the exact same problem with my Kenmore Elite three door, purchase 2/2007. I have contacted Sears for a repair.

totally agree i also have a kenmore elite 3 door fridge with the same problem , lights stays on when doors are closed ,almost caught fire but i noticed before this could happen , all food on top shelf was soooo hot , i have had to remove the 2 bulbs in the fridge , now need a flashlight to see at night ,, we paid $2900.00 for this supposed to be top of the line " elite " fridge in february 2008 , have also had other problems , door seals ripped and had to be replaced , ice maker quit " froze up " 2 months after purchase had service from sears out many times and finally gave up with the time wasted as problems were never fixed !! now the light problem , sears are saying as the warranty expired in feb 2009 that they are not responsible for this , if i would like a tech to have a look it would cost me $$$$ this light problem is a defect in sears lg fridges and sears should stand behind them and fix this problem before someones house burns down.

also i purchased a slide in smooth top range but i got the expensive extended warranty ,, lucky for me i did as now the lights that tell you the elements are hot are staying on . so sears is supposed to come tomorrow .. we will see if the tech will also take a report on the crap fridge while he is there ..NEVER BUY FROM SEARS AGAIN!! CONSUMER BEWARE ..
