AT&T U-verse customer service

I called to get tech support for u-verse TV because when I play recorded programs, the program keeps pausing. I waited for 15 minues to get connected and the person that answered couldn't help and put me on a brief hold. A minute later, I heard phone ringing and I was connected to a XXX phone line offering adult services. This is absolutely insane. I tried emailing them, but the automated system rejected my email because of XXX. I changed the wording and emailed again, I got another automated response asking me to call customer service. Back to square 1.
